Moonsift Best Price Comparison App
Moonsift Best Price Comparison App

12 best price comparison apps in 2025: Compare prices & find the best deals

Apr 29, 2025

There's nothing worse than making a big purchase, then finding out you could have saved $50 just by getting it elsewhere.

Around half of all price variations come down to which shop you buy from (according to BI Business Review), with different retailers often selling the same item for different prices.

This happens for a variety of reasons – including different operating costs, strategic pricing decisions, and competition.

Many retailers will even use dynamic pricing to adjust prices in real-time, based on demand and market trends.

At Moonsift, we want to make sure you’re getting the best deals on the best products. After all, we’re all about helping you shop smarter and make informed purchasing decisions.

That’s why we decided to carry out our own in-depth research on the best price comparison apps on the market.

We couldn't find a comprehensive list anywhere that went into all the detail about exactly what each one's good for. So, we knew we had to make one for our community.

Read on to learn all about our findings - from the best apps for price tracking to what to look out for in a price comparison app. Then, start taking advantage of price variations to save money every time you shop!

What are price comparison apps & how do they work?

A price comparison app is a mobile app that helps users find the best price for products and services.

In this way, they can help you…

  • Save time

  • Make informed purchasing decisions

  • Compare items across multiple websites

  • Find deals

  • Save money!

Different price comparison apps will work in different ways.

However, they typically allow users to search for products, before comparing prices from different online stores or retailers.

Of course, you can compare prices manually using spreadsheets or Google. But it can be really time-consuming to look up every item on multiple sites to check the price, as this Reddit user found:

“Moving into my own place soon and I need a LOT of stuff. I’ve got a spreadsheet and like 4 Amazon wish lists going but it’s getting really tedious to look up every item on 4+ sites to check the price, especially when trying to watch for price drops.”

A price comparison app allows you to find the best deal quickly and efficiently, without the need to keep tens of tabs open when you’re shopping.

We’ve found them to be a great way to save money on big and small purchases alike, whether it’s $50 off a TV or $2 off your favorite ready meal during your weekly grocery shop.

Features to look for in a price comparison app

Price comparison apps come in all shapes and sizes, with a range of features that can be helpful, or sometimes just confusing.

Here are some of the features we thought were the most useful in the price comparison apps we came across.

  • Alerts if the price of a product drops. Great for catching when bigger items you’ve had your eye on go on sale!

  • Searching for discount codes. So you can get money off an item you need right now.

  • Barcode scanning to identify items in-store or online. Ideal when you’re shopping in-person and you want to see if you can get the item cheaper elsewhere.

  • Image upload to identify items. Great when you’re not sure what an item’s called but you want to check out what it sells for and where.

  • Favorites or wishlists. So you can save any items you like for later (and catch when they go on sale).

  • Customer reviews. So you can shop and make purchasing decisions without ever having to leave the app.

Best price comparison apps in 2025

So, which are the top price comparison apps to download in 2025?

We did a ton of research so that you don’t have to, and collated our pick of the very best for various uses, from bargain hunting to in-person shopping and buying groceries.

Here’s what we found.

1. BuyVia – Best all-rounder price comparison app

BuyVia is a great all-rounder comparison app.

We found the layout really helpful with top daily deals from popular brands on the main screen and an easy-to-use coupon finder to help you discover discounts for your favorite stores.

But our favorite feature is probably the barcode / QR code scanner. It’s often when shopping in-person that we find we’ve missed out on deals online; something that BuyVia can help to make a thing of the past.

Just scan the barcode of any items you like the look of when you’re browsing, and the app will compare prices with other nearby shops or online, no typing required!

2. Flipp – Best grocery price comparison app

Average monthly grocery costs for one adult range from $257 to $464.80, according to USDA food plans for March 2025.

Luckily, this is an area you can easily cut back on with the help of a grocery price comparison app like Flipp, which we found to be the best in this category.

We loved Flipp’s customizable home screen where you can select your favorite stores to see top deals right there each time you open the app.

Another cool feature was being able to put items on a watch list, so that you get a notification when they hit a price you like. This is probably not super helpful for most grocery items that you need on a regular basis, but it’s definitely a useful feature to have if there are items you like to stock up on when the price is right.

The only downside is that Flipp only searches flyer prices. That means you won’t be able to compare all grocery items as not everything will show up in flyers.

“Just try the Flipp app. Type in an item you need to buy and it will show you the cheapest place to get it.” – Reddit user

3. Price.com – Best for cash back

Price.com has to be one of our favorite money-saving apps as it doesn’t just compare prices. It also offers cash back so you can earn while you shop!

The price comparison features are top of their game, with more than 100,000 stores featured in lots of different categories. And we love that the app helps you to uncover coupons for your favorite stores too.

But the standout feature is definitely the cash back, which allows you to earn while shopping both in-store and online.

Some users complain that it can take weeks to receive your cash, and that this isn’t the easiest experience.

But for many stores (like costco.com and B&H Photo) it’s the only app you’ll find that offers cash back. So, if you’re looking to save money, we think it’s worth putting up with a few niggles!

“I been using them for 6 months now. The rewards are great only if you can redeem them.

“Their PayPal cash out doesn’t seem to work on their website.

“Everytime I ask for a cashout manually to pushed to my PayPal account they take 3-4 weeks to process it with continuous reminders. (4-5 emails)

“If you are looking for an easy cashout they aren’t the best experience.” – Reddit user

4. Moonsift – Best for wishlists and gifting

Of course, we had to feature our own platform on this list, since we’re all about helping shoppers to make informed decisions and buy when the time is right.

The Moonsift tool is great when you’re buying at the top end of your budget, collating gifts for early on in the Christmas season, or planning to purchase a large number of items in one go (such as for a baby nursery or a house renovation).

It allows you to collate everything you have your eye on in one easy place so that you can compare items side by side.

You’ll also receive price drop alerts when an item you’ve saved goes down in price, meaning it’s great for non-urgent purchases where you’re happy to wait until the price hits a figure you’re comfortable with.

Compared to other similar wishlist and gifting tools, Moonsift is ideal for people who are visual. It was designed together with stylists and interior designers and features a clean, sleek design so it’s a bit like creating a shoppable Pinterest board!

While other similar tools will only allow you to save items sold by partner brands, Moonsift is universal. This means you can save items from any store in the world, to make sure you really do get the best product and deal for your needs.

5. Idealo – Best for usability

Idealo was such an easy app to use, so it’s great if you’re not tech-savvy (or even if you want to get your parents started with a price comparison app!).

It’s super simple to navigate and we loved how you can view detailed product information about the products you’re comparing, such as specification sheets, images, videos, expert reviews, user reviews and price history in one place.

It means you don’t ever have to leave the app, making shopping a quick and seamless experience.

The only thing we would say is that the traders featured on Idealo don’t seem to have been vetted very thoroughly (if at all). So, be aware when purchasing and make sure you check the trader.

Luckily, there are ratings for each shop, so it’s pretty easy to just avoid buying from one with very low or very few ratings.

It’s also worth noting that the app includes eBay auction prices, which can skew figures a little. But as long as you’re aware, this isn’t something we think should put you off what’s otherwise an intuitive and enjoyable app to use.

6. ShopSavvy – Best for shopping on apps

Nowadays, many Americans use apps to shop.

If that sounds familiar, ShopSavvy could be a good fit for your needs. Unlike many price comparison apps, it can track and compare prices for products wherever you’re shopping, including on any app.

To make use of this feature, you just need to share your favorite item to ShopSavvy.

The app also includes other useful features such as barcode scanning, price tracking, and even an AI shopping assistant that can answer your questions about various products. Our favorite though is probably the app’s deal scores.

Essentially, ShopSavvy has its own algorithm that evaluates every deal on the app and gives it a deal score to communicate how good of a deal it believes it to be. You can even configure any saved search to only show deals with a certain score, so you don’t have to manually sift through deals to find the best ones.

We love this as it means ShopSavvy does all the heavy lifting for you.

The main downside from our viewpoint is the interface, which isn’t the most attractive, as well as the fact that the free version is riddled with ads. We didn’t try the ad-free option, which you have to pay for, but without the ads, we imagine this would be a much more seamless experience.

  • Android

  • iOS

  • Universal product search

  • Barcode scanning

  • Price drop alerts

  • Price tracking

  • AI shopping assistant

  • Deal scores

  • Back-in-stock alerts

  • Deals and coupons

  • Complementary browser extension

Pros

  • Search by keyword, brand, category and more

  • Compare prices in-person and online

  • See which stores near you have a particular item in-stock

  • Never miss a sale at a major retailer again

  • Track prices on a graph to see how they fluctuate

Cons

  • Unattractive interface

  • Lots of ads

  • Can be glitchy

Pricing

7. Amazon – Best for in-store vs online comparisons

You may already be using Amazon’s own app to shop their marketplace, but did you know that the app can also be helpful for money saving?

Like many price comparison apps, you can use it to get notifications when deals come up, to help you buy products for less.

But the best features in our books (and the reason we wanted to feature Amazon on this list) are the barcode scanning and image search.

These are invaluable if you’re shopping in-person and you want to see if you could get an item for less on Amazon.

Usually in this scenario, we’d get out our phone, head to the Amazon website and type in the name of the product to see if we could get it for vastly less there.

However, Amazon’s app makes this process so much easier as you can quickly and discretely scan the item’s barcode or upload an image of it to see how much cheaper the item is on Amazon. So, it’s great for recreational shoppers who are looking to curb their spending!

Available on

  • Android

  • iOS

Key features

  • Save favourite items

  • Price alerts

  • Barcode scanning

  • Image search

  • Compare with similar items

Pros

  • Great for comparing prices in-person vs on Amazon

  • Keeps you signed in

  • Can sign in and out using fingerprint or facial recognition

  • Includes Alexa so you can play music or audiobooks while you shop

  • Shop directly on the app

Cons

  • Only works for items sold on Amazon

  • Won’t compare multiple online retailers (unless they sell via Amazon)

Pricing

Free.

8. MyCartSavings – Best for multitasking

MyCartSavings is a handy price comparison app to have up your sleeve if you’re looking at purchasing items from Amazon, Walmart, eBay or Best Buy.

These sites are often our go-to for similar products, and MyCartSavings can help to make sure you head to the right one, with detailed price comparisons across them.

We’re not going to lie, it’s a lot more restrictive than other price comparison apps that can compare a much wider range of retailers.

But it’s a great way to compare these main players side by side, in one easy-to-manage place.

As a bonus, the app will also show daily deals from a wider range of retailers, although the price comparison and tracking features won’t work across these.

The standout feature, however, is voice search, meaning you can find deals and compare items completely hands-free. It’s ideal if you’re out and about, carrying armfuls of shopping, or you simply realize you need to buy an item when you’re in the middle of putting the kids to bed!

Available on

  • Android

  • iOS

Key features

  • Price drop alerts

  • Price tracker

  • Compare similar items

  • Search using your voice

Cons

  • Only compares prices from 4 retailers

  • Only includes deals from 12 retailers

Pricing

9. ScanLife PowerShopper – Best for scanning grocery receipts

We’ve already listed Flipp, which tops our list as best grocery price comparison app.

But ScanLife PowerShopper is hot on its heels. We particularly love it if you’re a bit forgetful like us and have a habit of forgetting to search for coupons until after you’ve finished your grocery shop.

In this case, ScanLife PowerShopper allows you to apply active digital coupons to your grocery receipt, sending savings directly to your PayPal or Venmo so you don’t miss out! It’s easy to do, you just scan your grocery receipt via the app.

Another handy feature is being able to collaborate with others on shopping lists that you import or create in the app. This is ideal if you’re shopping as a family and various family members want to add something to the list.

It’s also a great app if you’re keen to shop healthily, as you can use the barcode scanning feature to learn more about a product’s nutritional facts and health scores.

  • Android

  • iOS

Key features

  • Build shopping lists

  • Import shopping lists

  • Share and collaborate on shopping lists with others

  • Cash back

  • Scan product barcodes to learn more about products’ nutritional facts and health score

  • Savings sent directly to your PayPal or Venmo account

  • Scan your grocery receipt to make use of coupons and get cash back

Cons

  • May use your location even when the app isn’t open

Pricing

10. PriceSpy – Best for electronics

We found PriceSpy to be a solid price comparison app, especially if you’re looking to make bigger purchases of electronics.

That seems to be where this app’s main focus is, and it’s certainly a great way to keep an eye on various bigger-ticket electronic items until the price is right for you to buy.

In particular, the price history feature gives you really detailed insights into pricing trends over time. There’s a dynamic graph that displays pricing fluctuations, with the option to view prices over a 3-month, 6-month or 1-year period and the ability to include or exclude sale periods.

We also love the product comparison feature, which allows you to compare products not just on price, but on specification too.

It’s a great way to see whether it’s worth upgrading your existing tech, or whether the price just isn’t warranted.

Available on

  • Android

  • iOS

  • Compare prices

  • Compare shops

  • Deals and promotions

  • Price history

  • Make sure you’re buying at the right time and price

Cons

  • Can show irrelevant products

Pricing

11. Pricepirates – Best for fans of eBay

Pricepirates isn’t a beautiful app, but it certainly warrants a place on this list.

We’d say it’s worth a download if you regularly spend time browsing auction prices on eBay.

The app allows you to spot when a deal really is a deal, by comparing eBay auction prices to many other offers from thousands of online stores.

The downside is that eBay auction prices won’t always reflect the item’s final price – so, prices can be skewed misleadingly low.

That said, it is a handy way to spot opportunities to nab an item for a great deal.

Available on

  • Android

  • iOS

Key features

  • Product search

Pros

  • Save offers even without an internet connection

  • View detailed product and seller information within the app

Cons

  • Most items are from eBay and Amazon

  • Search tool isn’t the most accurate

  • Design isn’t very visually appealing

  • eBay auction prices won’t always reflect the item’s final price

12. Shop – Best all-in-one shopping app

The Shop app isn’t just a price comparison app. Rather, it’s an all-in-one shopping app that’s designed to make your shopping experience seamless and rewarding. And it certainly delivers!

We enjoyed features including personalized shopping recommendations and even tracking a parcel’s journey to our doorstep.

But how does it perform from a price comparison point of view?

Well, the money-saving features offered aren’t as extensive as what you’ll find elsewhere, but they’re still super helpful.

You can get push notifications when a brand you follow launches a sale, as well as earning Shop Cash rewards when you shop via the app. You can then spend your Shop Cash anywhere in the app, making it a great way to maximize your discounts each time you spend.

How to choose the best price comparison app for you

There are tons of different price comparison apps. The ones we’ve picked out all have their good and bad points, but it might be a bit overwhelming to choose the right one for you.

Some people have one go-to they always use, others prefer to mix and match a few, or some savvy shoppers even use multiple ones to reap a reward combo.

Choosing the best price comparison app for you will all come down to finding the right balance between a few different factors...

Your needs

Think about how you currently shop and what would be most helpful when it comes to saving money.

For instance, if you want to cut down on your weekly grocery spend, a grocery price comparison app like Flipp or ScanLife PowerShopper will probably be the most useful option.

On the other hand, if you’re umming and ahhing about purchasing an expensive piece of electronic equipment (whether it’s a phone or a pair of curling tongs), PriceSpy could be a better fit.

Features

Think about which features would actually be useful for you.

Some price comparison apps have more features than others but there’s no point in having a barcode scanner if you never do your shopping in-store.

Likewise, if you’re not a fan of speaking to your phone, an app that has a voice search feature probably shouldn’t sway your decision.

Pricing

Are you willing to pay for a smooth price comparison experience? How much?

While there are many free price comparison apps, some will be riddled with ads unless you pay for the ad-free option.

Check that you can get the experience you want for a budget you’re happy with.

Ease of use

If you’re not particularly tech savvy, an app with a clean interface that’s simple to use should be at the top of your wishlist.

Apps that are clunky, riddled with bugs or full of ads will be difficult to use, and this might put you off using them regularly.

Supported stores

Not all apps will compare prices across all retailers.

Most will be comparing a set list of stores, even if that list is very extensive. And some will only be able to pull up one store – like Amazon’s app.

If you want to be able to compare items from any store in the world, look for a universal app.

Are price comparison apps safe & reliable?

Most price comparison apps are safe and reliable. However, like anything, there are always horror stories.

We’ve seen lots of worried users heading to forums like Reddit to air their concerns.

“Is Idealo.de a ligit website?im looking for buying a TV and they have very low prices like 200-300€ cheaper than Amazon, and I’m just curios if I can safely buy from this website.Thx” – Reddit user

While most price comparison apps are safe to use, it’s important to be aware of the risks.

That way, you can make informed purchasing decisions and protect yourself when downloading (and using) and new price comparison app.

Here are some considerations that we would always recommend keeping in mind.

  • Your data could be shared with other websites and businesses

  • Results won’t necessarily be listed in the order that’s best for you

  • Some deals may be excluded from the results

  • Some data may skew results inaccurately – eg. showing eBay auction prices rather than the price an item sold for

  • Websites linked to from price comparison apps may not deliver to your location – or, in a small number of cases, they may be bogus

  • Filters may not properly exclude irrelevant results

Of course, these points won’t apply to every price comparison app. But it’s important to always do your due diligence, just in case!

A few tips to stay safe include:

  • Check the price comparison app’s terms and conditions, especially related to data and privacy

  • If an app passes personal information to other companies, check you can opt out

  • Check whether results are filtered by relevance, price or popularity (and amend filters so you view the results that suit you best)

  • Use more than one app to make sure you’re getting a true picture of the deals available

  • Use strong passwords and never reveal your online payment passwords to anyone

By following these simple steps, you can stay safe online and get the best shopping experience (and deals!) for you.

Alternatives to price comparison apps

Price comparison apps can be a fantastic way to find deals, compare prices, and buy when the price is right.

But they’re not the only option!

Here are some alternatives that you can use instead of – or ideally, as well as – the best price comparison apps.

Browser extensions

Browser extensions are ideal if you regularly shop on a laptop or computer.

Many price comparison apps will also have a companion browser extension so that you can sync up your activity across all your devices.

Online price comparison tools

There are some brilliant online price comparison tools that operate similarly to apps but work via a website instead – like the Amazon price tracker CamelCamelCamel.

Similarly, price comparison websites that can help you to compare the cost of things like insurance or flights are very popular.

Price match policies

Some retailers have price match policies, meaning they won’t charge more for items than their competitors. Sometimes, they’ll even match discount codes and sales.

If you find a product for cheaper elsewhere, they should honor the competitor’s price for you.

Manual price comparisons

Don’t forget that you can also compare prices yourself with a straightforward Google search.

This can be a good way to verify that any deals you find on a price comparison app really are worth jumping on!

Final thoughts

As you can see, price comparison apps can completely transform your shopping experience, whether you’re shopping for gifts, groceries, holidays, apparel, or tech.

With a range of options out there, it won’t be hard to find the right app – or combination of apps – to suit your shopping habits.

At Moonsift, our mobile app and browser extension are designed to make wishlists and registries easy.

Not only is it a great way to save and compare products that you like the look of until you’re ready to buy. But we’ll also send you price alerts if the cost of one of your favorite items drops, so you can buy when the price is right.

Give it a try
